Our story

A neighbourhood salon with a craftsperson's patience.

New Cross Hair & Beauty grew out of a simple idea: that a salon should feel like somewhere you want to linger. Warm light, antique mirrors, good conversation — and behind it, a team who treat every appointment as a consultation first.

Our stylists work across every hair type and texture, and our beauty room upstairs is a quiet counterpoint to the buzz of the floor below. Nothing is rushed, nothing is off-the-shelf.

Valda

Senior Hair Stylist & Owner

Valda is the owner of the business and our Senior Hair specialist. She is an exceptional hair stylist and whole-heartedly enjoys her job. Valda attends hair seminars, events and loves sharing her knowledge with the team. She is always here to support and consult individuals including staff and clients.

Renata

Beauty Specialist

Renata is our beauty expert specialising in face and body waxing, massages and facials. She keeps new and returning customers feeling welcome and comfortable with all services. She is also known for our beloved HD Brows package, maintaining beautiful eyebrows for all.

Hermine

Hair Stylist

Hermine has honed her skills through decades of practice and has a deep understanding of various hair types, textures, and styles. Hermine's expertise allows her to cater to a diverse clientele, offering tailored recommendations and personalized services to meet each client's unique needs.

Demi

Hair Stylist

Meet our youngest team member — the lovely Hair Stylist Demi. Demi is very welcoming, sweet and friendly and has already built up her clientele. Demi is great at all our cuts and has mastered her bouncy blow-dries! We're extremely happy to have Demi on our team.

Rooted in New Cross

Part of the street, not just on it.

We're two minutes from New Cross Gate station, among the market stalls, record shops and cafés that make SE14 what it is. Our clients are our neighbours — students, families, artists and everyone in between.

We support local makers where we can, stock what genuinely works for the hair and skin we see every day, and keep our door open for a chat and a coffee whether or not you have an appointment.

Frequently asked

Yes — for colour, lash and brow tinting, lash lifts and HD Brows we ask for a patch test at least 48 hours before your appointment. It takes two minutes in salon and keeps you safe. Facials that use peels, microneedling or radio frequency need a consultation first (facial consultations are free).

Plans change — just let us know at least 24 hours before your appointment and we'll happily move it. Cancellations inside 24 hours, or no-shows, may be charged as our stylists' time is held for you. You can reschedule yourself any time through our Fresha booking page, or give us a call.

We're on New Cross Road, a two-minute walk from New Cross Gate station and served by many buses. There is pay-and-display parking on the surrounding side streets, free after 6.30pm and on Sundays. The salon is on street level with a step at the entrance — let us know when booking and we'll help you in and seat you in our most accessible station.

Five minutes before your appointment is perfect — enough time for a proper consultation with your stylist before we start, so we're clear on exactly what you'd like.
